Unusual Cats

Cat is an ordinary animal for us. But do you know that there are still a lot of unusual cats? Here are the most peculiar-looking breeds of feline in the world. Check out the pics.

1 ) Selkirk Rex

Selkirk Rex is a cat breed with highly curled hair, including the whisker. It is distinct from all  other Rex breeds.

2 ) Sphynx

This is a Canadian hairless with odd-looking rare breed of cat called the Sphynx. This cat is well-known for it lack of a coat.

3 ) Maine Coon

This breed of domestic cat is the 2nd most popular breed of cat in the world. Maine Coon is the official State cat of Maine, USA.

4 ) American Curl

American Curl has distinctively unusual ears that originated in California is named the American Curl. Its ears curl back  from the face toward the center of the back of the skull.

5 ) Don Sphynx

Check out Another hairless cat breed that originated in Russia is the Don Sphynx. This cat is also known as Don Hairless  and it started in 1987 with the discovery of a hairless cat in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don hence the name.

6 ) Scottish Fold

What do you think when you first see this cat? It has an owl-like appearance right? It is also sometimes called Coupari, a cat breed  with a natural dominant-gene mutation that makes its ear cartilage contains a fold, causing the ears to bend forward  and down towards the front of their head.

7 ) Savannah

Savannah is an exotic looking breed of cat. It is a unique-looking hybrid domestic cat breed produced by a cross  between the serval and a domestic cat.

8 ) Turkish Angora

Check out the eyes of Turkish Angora are what make the breed unique.  Its eyes may be blue, green or amber, or even one blue and one amber.  The W gene responsible for the white coat and  blue eye is closely related to the hearing ability, and presence of a blue eye can indicate the cat is deaf to the side the blue  eye is located.

9 ) LaPerm

this is another unique cat breed with curly hair is the LaPerm. This breed has a very affectionate personality and is genetically  unique and not related to any other Rex Cat varieties.

10 ) Oriental Shorthair

This unique breed of cat called the Oriental Shorthair looks like a dog. This cat combines the Siamese body with a  diversity of colorings and patterns.

11 ) Peterbald

The peculiar-looking breed of cat is the Peterbald. It is of Russian origin. They are not actually hairless but have  very short hair.

12 ) Ukrainian Levkoy

ANOTHER hairless cat breed again. This is the Ukrainian Levkoy. It is a cat of very original appearance and with folded ears. These  cats are of medium size, the body is rather long, muscular and slender of rectangular format.
