The house is owned by a Ballard women who became famous when she stubbornly turned down $ 1 million to sell her house. Her house was needed to be taken down to make way for a commercial development. Unfortunately the old women died due to pancreatic cancer at the age of 86. She liked her home so much that she doesn’t want to give it up for any amount of money. Her dream was fulfilled when she died at the home she loved so much.

“I don’t want to move. I don’t need the money. Money doesn’t mean anything,” she told the Seattle P-I in October.

Wu Ping is the infamous lady who was the only one out of 281 families in that area who rejected an offer of a new house to move from the site at Chongqing China during 2004. Ms Wu and her husband stood steadly by rejecting all offers even when the construction was started around her house. After years of battle finally Wu Ping gave up during April 2, 2007 while standing aside while her house was demolish to make space for a shopping mall.

After turning down the offer from DC’s government he made a loan of $650,000 to open a pizza shop called Ledo Pizza. This is one of those stubborn shops which just doesn’t want to be demolished even with a high payment. Despite the old nailed building, shops behind it still attracts its customers. But due to its stubbornest now the old nailed building becomes one of the plaza.

57 year old Cai Zhuxiang smuggled into Hong Kong when he was very young and eventually obtained a Hong Kong ID. But he went to Shenzhen China to work for the pass few years. He used to earn 700 yuan per day but ever since the nailed house problem he had to stop work for almost a year. He was very stubborn and saw his neighbours selling their house one by one. He rejected the offer of 5 million yuan to demolished his house and asked for 14 million yuan. The company refuse and Cai Zhuxiang was frequently threaten. An official threatened him by saying  “You better be careful if you want to be a nail house owner.  According to Guangdong province statistics, 98% of all nail house owners die in car accidents.” But he stood still and finally the company decided to buy his house for 12 million yuan. Cai was finally satisfy by the offer and sold his house, he said he wanted to use his money to buy 4 apartments, one for him two for his children and one to be rented out.
